I would definitely love to be a night zoo keeper because I could fight the criminal monsters trying to take over the light world. A land without creativity or imagination would be catastrophic. Exploring the ice jungles and conquering the floating mountains would be phenomenal. The spying giraffes would be an asset in the war as they could assist me searching high in the tree tops. Time travel has been something I’ve always wanted to experience and the elephants could teleport me out of danger. With strength, courage and fearlessness, I think that I would be the perfect candidate to become the night zoo keeper.

I was strolling along the gravel path in the park. You could hear the children screaming and laughing as they whizzed back and forth on the swings. My friend, Ryan, came running over to me.

“What’s the matter?” I questioned.

“Quick look up! Can you see that flying elephant?”

I looked at him in a confused way. Was he pranking me? If he was it definitely was not working. He looked quite serious. I was worried, am I blind or has he gone crazy?

“Are you sure that’s a flying elephant? It looks like a pigeon to me.”

“Oh.” replied Ryan feeling quite silly after his mistake.

As Beth strolled home from school she started to think about the giant chocolate chip cookie she had placed in the cookie jar the day before. Her Dad had brought it home for her but unfortunately she was too full to eat it. Nearing her door, Beth’s tummy began to rumble. She twisted the door handle and stepped into the hallway. Her pet dog, Benny, jumped up against her legs in excitement. Benny was always pleased to see Beth, she bent down and stroked him before taking off her coat. Entering the kitchen she could see the cookie jar, but when she lifted the lid, it was empty!

Looking back, I now realise what a dumb idea it was. Eric and I had a plan, to borrow his Dad’s motor boat and set sail on an adventure. Clambering into the boat we felt a little anxious yet filled with adrenalin. Eric rammed forward the lever and the engine juddered and spluttered to a start.  Punching the air in celebration, we turned the boat out to sea. Sailing towards the horizon we could feel the wind pounding on our faces, each wave became more powerful, lifting the boat higher and higher out of the sea. We turned round to look for the jetty, but all we could see was water, we were petrified.

Sophie grabbed her coat form the newel post at the bottom of her stairs, pulled on her helmet and dashed out of the door clutching her favourite pink gorilla. “Hurry up Sophie, it looks like rain” complained her Dad. Sophie had been pestering her Dad to go on a bike ride for months. Excitedly, she mounted her bicycle and began to pedal with all her might.

Huffing and puffing Sophie reached the top of the steep incline towards the park. This was the highlight of the ride. Tearing down the grand hill Sophie laughed at her cheeks wobbling as she gathered speed, bumping rapidly along the gravel path.

“Could you go and get your sister’s pink shoes from the shed?” shouted Thomas’ mother.                                                      “Why me?” groaned Thomas, stomping off to the patio doors. He flung open the doors, they bounced back against the wall with a horrendous thud but failed to close. “Thomas, close the doors!” yelled his mother at the top of her voice. Thomas didn’t look back.

Cautiously, he opened the door, Thomas detested the shed, it gave him the creeps. Precariously, he started to climb over the junk that had gathered over the years. Just as he was about to reach the shoes he lost his footing and trapped his foot in a bike. “Mum!” he hollered, but no-one could hear him cry.

Although Fred was incredibly full he could not resist browsing through the dessert menu. His eyes rapidly scanned across the vast array of choices, finding it almost impossible to make a final decision. “I could not eat another morsel, are you absolutely sure you want pudding?” questioned Bob, his closest friend.

“But it’s my birthday, everyone needs a pudding on their birthday!” giggled Fred as he glanced back down to the menu. ”I think I’ll have fruit crumble and strawberry custard.” declared Fred. Slumping back into his seat, Fred patiently waited for the waiter to arrive. “Wait, this custard tastes like bananas, I hate bananas!“ Fred sobbed.

Christmas day, exciting but not when you’re woken up at five in the morning. My annoying little brother, Mason, got a new toy for Christmas. It was a small robot which appeared to have cogs, wheels and pulleys inside its transparent body. He tried to put the batteries in but he failed countless times. I got so frustrated watching him struggle that I snatched it off him, grabbed the batteries and shoved them in.

But when I put the batteries in, the robot still failed to operate. On closer inspection I realised that one of the batteries was inserted incorrectly, even worse, they were stuck…

Christmas eve, no one can get to sleep, the excitement of waking up and finding the presents you desperately wanted carefully wrapped in fancy paper stacked up waiting. Unfortunately, my hamster couldn’t get to sleep and I had forgotten to close his cage (not the first time!).

Quietly he snuck down the creaky steps trying his utmost not to make a noise, and wandered off to the oversized yet lovely tree and stupidly decided to climb it. As he reached the top he began to feel dizzy, he started to fall! He gathered speed as he tumbled towards the floor bringing baubles and tinsel with him. Now there’s going to be trouble!
